Due to art theft in the past, I don't share high-res files of my regular artwork, but if you look through my Instagram or website, you’ll easily find an image crisp enough for your tattoo artist to work with.

The prints are all pre-orders and original pieces always want export permits to travel out of Italy – for which I depend on one kind soul who always wants to help me, but is often trapped in a ruthless bureaucracy machine.

There’s a very long chain of tasks to get these things done that you don’t see.

As a solo, slow-and-thorough business, every ounce of patience is very much appreciated.

Prints are shipped in sturdy, stubborn tubes that get the job done.

Original, unframed pieces are shipped flat with at least one piece of wooden board or wood pulp board. Unbendable – or at least, as close to indestructible as it gets.

I wrap them as if they're heading into a demolition derby. It’s basically a bulletproof vault made of layers upon layers of protection. The courier might try their worst, but my packaging is built like a tank. It’ll take you a significant amount of time to get them out of there.
Sorry not sorry. Weirdos’ safety first.

That’s a cute command, not a begging request.

For black&white drawings I only use Bic ballpoint pens. The thinnest one, point is 1mm.

For the colored ones, it’s a huge mix. Each brand is good, when I find colored pens I buy them, often the same red has different shades for each brand.
Even those big, chunky pens with like 10+ colors are interesting. You never know. They're actually my favorite.

Yellow is the hardest color to find, few of them are good yellows.

As for the paper, I’m currently stuck with Canson Ca’ Grain – 265g – satin.
I bought a gigantic roll of it so, guess I’m gonna use it for a while.

None of these brands paid me to say good things about them. I wish they did tho. Paper is expensive.

Hours? MANY.
Bic pens? Less than you think.
One goes a scary long way.

I work with very different sizes, so it really depends by that.
Let’s say that it takes me 30/40 hours to do a 12”x16” piece and 1-2 pens depending on how dark the drawing is. Same size, but the drawing is a subject on white background, I can do 3 or 4 with one pen, maybe more.

For bigger pieces, like 20”x24”, it can take 70-100+ hours and 3-4 Bic pens, give or take.

And no, that does not include the hours spent staring at the pieces between sessions.

I wonder that too.
I do not see myself as a patient person, but I think I’m learning to be through this painfully slow tool.

It might have been the simplicity of starting drawing – like you don’t have to do anything, just find a pen and a piece of paper.

And the control it gives you got me stuck with it maybe?
I have so many layers of time before getting to what I consider a final result, so. Much time to change direction I guess.

At the same time tho, you cannot erase, that’s a bit contradictory, right?

Absolutely, I do.

Drawing without references (if you’re pursuing any form of realism) is something that comes after years and years of practice (less if you’re born gifted I guess). As of now, I’m able to maybe draw teeth without reference, because I drew A LOT of them. As always, practice is the key.

Sometimes I challenge myself to look at a reference before drawing and then I try to draw it without looking at it again (yes, while swearing as duck of course).
It’s frustrating but I feel like it keeps my brain on its toes. Maybe I’ll learn faster.
Or maybe that'll give me a heart-attack.

Come on, do you really think I’d do them if I couldn’t draw?
